You Don't Have to Keep Playing the Roles

Over the last decade as a therapist, I've worked with people from various walks of life. They often came to therapy feeling anxious and depressed. Over time, a thread emerged: the family roles they'd stepped into growing up, roles that once kept them safe, connected or surviving, was no longer serving them in adulthood.

If you grew up being the "strong one," the "mature one," the emotional support for adults, or the peacekeeper in your family, you learned early that your needs came last. That you're only okay when everyone else is okay. You may have been given several roles at once, shifting between them depending on what the moment demanded. You've been in character for so long, you don't even know who you are without the masks and scripts.

That pattern doesn't just disappear when you become an adult. It shows up in your relationships, your work, your inability to rest, and your struggle to be real with yourself and others.

My help adults who:

  • Who had to grow up too soon

  • Were Parentified as children

  • Struggle with people-pleasing and saying no

  • Feel on edge and pre-occupied with anticipating other people's needs

  • Are always reading the room and being a chameleon

  • Have a compulsive need to fix or rescue others

  • Feel anxious and guilty putting their own needs first

  • Are high-achievers, perfectionists and over-functioners

  • Tired of one-sided relationships

I can help you to:

  • Understand your nervous system and how it serves you

  • Learn how to trust yourself

  • Change your relationship to guilt and shame

  • Learn how to express your needs and boundaries with more ease

  • Stop people-pleasing and rescuing others

  • Heal from parentification and childhood emotional neglect

  • Build relationships where you matter too

  • Recognise and build healthy relationships

  • Reclaim your identity beyond what you do for others

  • Care for people without enabling
